Know which systems keep your business running, and what it costs when they go down

A Business Impact Analysis (BIA) maps out which business processes are critical, how long they can be down without unacceptable damage, and what the financial and operational consequences are. Mandatory under NIS2 and essential for any continuity strategy.

What does a BIA deliver?

The foundation for continuity planning, risk analysis and NIS2

Critical processes mapped

An overview of all business processes, ranked by criticality. Which processes must absolutely never go down? Which ones can wait a day?

RTO & RPO per process

Recovery Time Objective (how fast must recovery be?) and Recovery Point Objective (how much data loss is acceptable?) are determined for each critical process.

Financial impact analysis

What does one hour of downtime cost per critical system? Lost revenue, reputational damage, fines: all quantified. Essential for insurers and management.

Dependencies made visible

Which systems, suppliers and people are critical for each business process? Dependencies you were unaware of become visible, including single points of failure.

NIS2 requirement

NIS2 requires organisations to have a risk analysis and business continuity policy. A documented BIA is direct proof that you meet this requirement.

Input for insurance

Cyber insurers increasingly ask for a BIA as part of the acceptance procedure. A documented BIA speeds up this process and can lower your premium.

Input for BCM & DR

The BIA results form the direct basis for your Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery plan. No continuity plan without a BIA.

Professional final report

ZETA delivers a fully documented BIA report, usable for audits, management reports and as input for follow-up projects.

Our BIA approach

Structured, practical and in collaboration with your team

Step 1: Interviews & workshops

We speak with process owners, IT and management to map out all business processes and dependencies. No assumptions: we ask directly.

Step 2: Analysis & scoring

Each process is scored on criticality, maximum tolerable downtime (MTPD), financial impact and recovery requirements (RTO/RPO). Prioritisation based on objective data.

Step 3: Reporting

A complete BIA report with critical processes, dependencies, an RTO/RPO matrix, a financial impact overview and recommendations for next steps.

Step 4: Follow-up

Based on the BIA, we can move straight on to BCM policy, a BCP document or a DR plan. ZETA guides the entire continuity process.
